We are so excited to be planning another trip to Scotland! I plan on blogging about it this time, since our last trip was with a large group and we were quite remote so it would have been difficult to keep up with it anyway. But I am sad I didn’t at least go back and document some things in a Word doc or something and share the amazing photos.
This trip we are planning to fly direct into London, take the BritRail to Edinburgh where we will stay for about 4-5 nights. While there, we have tickets to see one of our favorite bands, The Toy Dolls! We then get ourselves to Inverness for a night, and hop onto a Rabbie’s Tours for a 3-Day tour up to the Orkney Islands! Then back to Inverness for a bit and we can enjoy the city, then hop on another tour with (TOUR COMPANY LINK) to see Lindisfarne Holy Island. Then we leave Inverness and head to Bamburgh and stay a night there to tour the Bamburgh Castle! After that, we hit York for a night, then head back to London where we are super excited to catch a live performance of The Upstart Crow! We may try to catch another show at the Globe, and meet John’s eldest brother there for a day, then head back home on a direct flight to MSP.
There have been many iterations of this itinerary but we think this is finally it! We were so relieved to find a tour company that would take us to Lindisfarne, because without a car, this was proving to be hard to plan because you have to time it with not just public transportation but also with the tides! You can only access the island at low tide. We are finally ready to buy tickets and booking lodging! I may do some poking around to see if there are any other sights our walking tours we might find to fill out some of the Edinburgh days, but we are certain there’s so much to see we won’t have any trouble.
Scotland, here we come again!
