Glacial Lakes State Park

We took a very brief but much-needed fall color tour of Glacial Lakes State Park. They had a cabin camper available and an Astronomy in the Park event, so we took the opportunity for a little one-night getaway. Here's a little snapshot of all the neat things we saw in less than 24 hours :)

(Not pictured: three adorable baby raccoons that we saw on the road as we left the astronomy program. They were so cute, running amok on the road, and I piped out the window at them to hustle themselves off the road, and they did in that cute little funny way they run. Raccoons have special meaning to me, and I wish I could have gotten their cute little glowing eyes and funny, stripey bodies on camera!!)

 Trains!
 Fields!
 Our little cabin

 Scenes from the lake

 Fungi
Gorgeous red sumac

 Water scenery
 Schmoopie-ness!

 Playing with iPhone effects
 Loved this little squirmy path
 Phallic fungi
Astronomy in the Park! We got to see the deep craters of our luminous moon, the rings of Saturn and even a nebula!

Look at all the spiders! And the New England Aster that just blooms so cheerily this time of year when all else is withering. Such a happy sight :)

We saw (and heard) loads of little garter snakes slithering in the leaves, and the dragonflies this year have been incredible! So many kinds!

Milkweed fluff and fungi, fields of golden grasses and cattails
This sweet tiny frog was the highlight of our campsite! We watched him hop about until finally I ushered him out of the walkway for fear someone might step on him.
A humble and delicious brekkies of tots and dogs!

We even had time for a canoe ride! The lake was serene, and all to ourselves for most of the paddle :)

Butterflies!

Here's just a quick look at a beautiful butterfly garden near my moms house. We had to stop and take some photos of these glorious monarchs having a major community party on the flowers :)
