Double Decker Bus Tours, Holyrood Park, King Arthur’s Seat, St. Anthony’s Chapel & Dinner with Ken & Luci

We spent Saturday doing a bunch of the hop on, hop off bus tours around Edinburgh, and we quickly came to realize how small a city proper it really is. We had been to virtually every neighborhood on foot already by this point so we enjoyed going round again to see things from a different perspective. It was a bit chillier so we bundled up in our rain coats and hood’s up in the windy seats on the top deck!

We then did a long hike along in Holyrood Park up almost to King Arthur’s Seat which was a real struggle for me, so we turned back and caught the lovely views from St. Andrew’s Chapel. It was a complete throng of tourists who all seemed to be 30 years younger than us, or older than us and in remarkable fitness. I became a bit disgruntled by all this, but finally just kicked myself in the pants to not be a King Baby about it. There is a beautiful pond right below the massive climbs that was loaded with swans and cute magpies and ducks so we went to admire them for a bit before heading back to the flat for a lie down.

We then met our friend Ken, the amazingly chill guy who was our driver and co-tour-guide from our last trip to Scotland in 2019, and his partner, Luci, at an Indian restaurant that Ken’s kids recommended. It was a fabulous meal, but even more, fabulous company. Ken and Luci are truly two wonderful, kind people. A perfect end to the day.
