The Journey Back to Inverness: John O’Groats, Lybster “Smuggler’s Cove”, Culloden

Again, Blogger jumbled these all up! Anyway, here are some scenes from our journey back from Orkney to Inverness, and just a few shots I took at our day trip to Culloden Moor today. John got more photos from Culloden (and everything else, including his awesome panoramic photos, so I’ll post those at home).

Culloden Café board featuring some of the animals they raise there as part of a restoration process to try to restore the lands back to the moors. Here they list the goats!

Culloden’s horses and Hairy Coo’s.
We came across these interesting signs in the restrooms. We think they mean don’t bathe yourself, but not sure!

Lybster, a wonderful quick stop that Helen, our tour guide, calls “Smuggler’s Cove” and we stopped for snacks and a wee tipple of Scotch. A delightful place!
Random shot of a cute little town!

Random field of rolled hay, this is mostly what Orkney “mainland” looks like along our drive.

I think this is one of the many oil rigs sitting in the sea

Lybster stones and a bone!

Tomorrow, we have a super early start to make our way to the town of Bamburgh. We splurged a bit on our lodgings at this next stop so we are excited. We will have a lake and castle view of Bamburgh Castle, which is something we have wanted to see because of a show we really like, The Last Kingdom.

More soon, love to all!
