Edinburgh!

We have successfully settled into our sweet AirBnB in Edinburgh! We have an amazing view of the city from the 8th floor of this dude’s rental flat. It’s perfectly cozy and bright with loads of windows, and we are thankfully sun kissed here with lovely weather!

I’ve only had about 1 1/2 hours of snippets of sleep (in over 24 hours) on the train from King’s Cross, London to here since I was totally unable to sleep on the overnight flight, despite taking a melatonin. I’m pretty exhausted but the sights, bustle and energy of the city as well as the perfect weather is reviving so I’m going to power through until tonight when we crash early for the evening and set our internal clocks to Greenwich Meantime.

The direct flight is the way to go, and Heathrow is so close to the city it only cost us tube fair (rather than the train) and took about 40 minutes to get to King’s Cross, which is a great Underground hub for a bunch of connecting tubes and trains. We spent a few hours there stretching, walking, having a much enjoyed latte and just taking a rest from rushing. Then it’s a four hour train to Edinburgh on the train, and some really awesome views of the sea and two sites we will be touring, Lindisfarne Monastery and Bamburgh castle. The landscape changes so clearly from England to Scotland as the steep cliffs, rugged rocks and massive mountains come into view as you ease into Alba, Land of the Scots!

I’ll report more as we get out and about, but for now, I need to wash off the airport and train germs off and relax with a cuppa! Sending love and hugs to all back home!
